See the World Like an Artist
Module 3 — The art of colors
Note: In the videos I mention the date July 29. This course is now self-paced — you don’t need to follow that date. Just watch the videos and do the exercises in your own time.
Lesson 1 — We see colors because of light.
In a rainbow you see all the colors of the light spectrum.
With red, green and blue light, the eye can see every color.
Your eyes mix these colors to create all the others.
Exercise:
In this video I talked about a small experiment.
When you shine a flashlight on a CD, you can also see the color spectrum.
Look for the rainbow.
Do you have a picture of a rainbow?
Lesson 2 — The art of colors
Did you know the color wheel?
Exercise:
Make a painting using only red, yellow, and blue paint.
These are the primary colors.
Mix them to create new colors and make your painting.
Lesson 3 — The meaning and feeling of colors
Did you know that blue helps you concentrate,
and that warm colors work best when you need to cooperate?
Exercise:
Complementary colors strengthen each other.
Make a painting and use this effect in your work.
